David May

FOUNDER / educator

The Wild School of Teton Valley was founded and is led by David May, an educator of 20 years in both outdoor, experiential, and classroom settings. After the birth of his first child, David saw the need and opportunity for excellent and accessible early-childhood education in Teton Valley. Having led month-long expeditions in deep wilderness, public elementary school classrooms in Driggs, and the co-development of a Teton Valley middle school, Wild School is the culminating expression of David’s lifelong passion and pursuit for growing good humans (preferably) outdoors.

Ella Hundere-Dahlgren

educator

Ella joined Wild School in the winter of 2023 after returning to Teton Valley. She appreciates the unique opportunities that forest school provides students to grow comfortable and confident in their learning and voice. With a degree in Environmental Studies and Outdoor Education and Leadership from Westminster University in Salt Lake City, she integrates storytelling, community building, and place-based education methods into her teaching. Growing up in the valley, Ella is passionate about inspiring students to connect with the ecosystem and the community we call home. Outside of school, she enjoys berry foraging, knitting, skiing, and spending time in the ceramics studio.
